All subjects are taught by exceptionally well-qualified, experienced teachers, alongside a personalised structure of support and mentoring. View the latest examination results and student destinations 2016.
Admission to the Sixth Form for all students will be as a result of applicants obtaining a minimum of six GCSE passes at grade C or above including English and Mathematics (a minimum of a grade 5 in the reformed GCSE qualifications in English and Mathematics) and A* - B grades in their preferred A-level subjects or nearest equivalents (grades 9 - 6 in reformed GCSE qualifications). We regret that we are unable to offer part-time courses at the moment, so all students are expected to undertake a full programme of study, which consists of four A-level courses plus a coherent enrichment option.
In choosing to join our Sixth Form you will enrol on a post-16 study programme which is ambitious, flexible and enjoyable. Your post-16 programme will offer every opportunity to achieve more than the minimum, with a flexible enrichment option designed to develop your skills of independent learning and enhance your competitiveness after two years of study. At Highsted we value the importance of enrichment and extra-curricular activities, we understand that such activities will enhance your learning and are central to developing any student’s personal competitiveness. As part of your post-16 programme of study you have the opportunity to be involved in at least one enrichment activity, however, you can get involved in as many activities as you like. Typical areas of enrichment include:
- completing the level three Extended Project qualification;

Our Sixth Form Information Evening takes place in November each year, giving you the chance to find out what our Sixth Form can offer you. To find out more, and to arrange a visit, contact the Key Stage 5 Learning Mentor (email@example.com). Application for entry to Highsted’s Sixth Form takes place via UCAS Progress. Information for applicants, a welcome letter from the Assistant Headteacher and our Subject Preference form can be downloaded from this page.
All candidates within the predicted grades to meet our entrance requirements will be invited to visit the school. Interviews are informal, our aim is to explore whether we can meet your needs. You can come on your own, be interviewed with a friend who is also applying, or bring parents/carers.
The best time to contact us is November and March of Year 11, then we will know your requirements in order to design your personalised curriculum alongside those of our existing students. We can, of course, deal with enquiries right up to the first week of Year 12 in September, although popular courses may be already over-subscribed, so the earlier you apply, the better for you. If your GCSE results are not as you expected and/or you change your mind about your subject choices, do keep talking to us.
