Remembrance 2020
The Highsted community continues to remember and pay homage to Remembrance Day with an installation of ceramic and acrylic poppies, artfully positioned at the entrance to the school site. As you enter the school gates your eyes are immediately captivated by the morning sunlight glistening on the striking red poppies, set against the frosted grass. They act as a reminder of the sacrifice and hardship experienced during the war, encouraging quiet self-reflection. Pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9 were involved in the making of the beautiful and individual acrylic and ceramic poppies, inspired by Tom Piper’s and Paul Cummins’ memorable poppy installation at the Tower of London.
